A horizontal brochure is a landscape, bound publication in A4 or A5 — turned on its side, so every spread is wider than it is tall.

Turning the page on its side changes what it's for. Landscape suits pictures over text, so it's the format for work that leads with images: photography and design portfolios, fashion and product lookbooks, brand books, real estate and interiors, travel and hospitality, presentation-style decks that get printed. It's less common than portrait, which is part of the appeal — it looks considered on a desk or a coffee table precisely because most things aren't this shape.
The real reason to use it is the spread. Open a landscape brochure and the two pages join into one very wide surface, ideal for a panoramic photograph or an image that runs unbroken across the fold. A4 landscape opens to roughly 594 mm across, A5 to about 420 — room to let a single picture carry a spread and keep the text to a quiet column. The catch is the same width: long lines of body copy get tiring to read, so it rewards short columns, captions and generous margins rather than pages of solid text.
In the sets: closed on the cover, open on a spread and shot from above, so you can present the cover and an inside spread together. Each is a layered PSD with smart objects — the artwork sits on its own layer, so replacing it leaves the paper, lighting and shadow untouched.
