It keeps the thing DL is good at — it stands in a brochure rack and slides into a DL envelope — but opens into four panels instead of the one you get on a flat DL or the three on a tri-fold. That extra panel is room for a fuller story: a longer menu, a product range, a set of steps, an itinerary, anything that wants a bit more space while still closing to a shape that posts and racks cleanly.
Opened right out it reads as one long continuous strip rather than separate columns, so artwork can run the whole length — good for a timeline or a sequence. It still reveals itself in stages as it unfolds, so there's a reading order to plan, and each panel stays narrow at DL width, which suits content that moves step by step more than a single wide image.
In the sets: folded, part-open in the zigzag and laid flat, tented and shot from above, so you can present the closed cover and the full open strip together. Each is a layered PSD with smart objects — the artwork sits on its own layer, so replacing it leaves the fold, lighting and shadow untouched.
