It's the brochure sized around where it lives: it stands in the holders on reception desks, in hotels and waiting rooms, and slides into a standard DL envelope for a mailer. That's what the DL name points at — the format is named by what it becomes when it's closed, because closed is the state that has to fit the slot.
Living in a rack means one panel does most of the work before anyone touches it: the cover is the only thing on show in the holder, so it carries the whole job of getting picked up while the other five panels stay hidden. Open it and there's a reading order to plan — cover, first flap, full spread — and on the common roll fold the panel that tucks inside sits a couple of millimetres narrower so it closes flat.
In the sets: standing closed in a rack-style shot, mid-open and laid flat from above, so you can present the cover that sells it and the full inside in one go. Each is a layered PSD with smart objects — the artwork sits on its own layer, so replacing it leaves the folds, lighting and shadow untouched.
